BRIDGES

Bridges are used to replace your missing tooth or teeth with a span of porcelain that covers the gap. Bridges are useful as a corrective measure after an accident or serious dental decay that necessitates the need for removal of teeth.

DENTURE

Dentures are the option when all / almost all teeth are lost. The types include:

(a) Complete Denture:

This is the usually practiced method; after removal of all teeth. Impressions are taken of the edentulous arches & dentures fabricated from heat-cure acrylic resin in the laboratory. They require a lot of perseverance on the part of the patient; as far as getting adjusted to it is concerned.

(b) Immediate Denture:

It is placed immediately after removal of teeth & hence save you the embarrassment of being seen without teeth. A final denture; may have to be made later on.

(c) Over Denture:

It is placed over some retained teeth or tooth roots. Thus, it saves roots; improves chewing ability & aids in retention of the denture; as compared to a normal denture. Even the tactile sensation of the patient is maintained & there is less stress to the supporting tissues.

(d) Implant Supported Denture:

Two or more implants can be placed per jaw in a patient & then retention can be achieved through bars, clips, magnets, ball & socket etc. The denture is placed over it & this definitely has more retention, stability & support.

DISIMPACTIONS

When a third molar or wisdom tooth erupts in the oral cavity in an unwanted direction or position; causing problems in bite; leading to caries & severe pain & discomfort, it has to be removed. A minor surgical procedure is performed by taking an incision & sometimes even drilling bone. This procedure is performed under local anesthesia by an expert oral surgeon.

FRACTURE REDUCTION CASES

These are routinely performed by expert oral surgeons in the hospital; under local or general anesthesia; as per requirement. Since all emergency care is readily available; there is no problem whatsoever for the patient and the doctor.

FULL MOUTH REHABILITATION

Bite of some patients is collapsed. It may be due to various Para functional habits such as bruxism, erosion, abrasion, attrision, early loss of posterior teeth due to decay etc. In such cases, the bite has to be restored in order to improve the TMJ & muscle function, as also to improve the chewing ability & facial aesthetics. First; a removable acrylic prosthesis is made & given to the patient. Then, a final prosthesis is fabricated; according to the temporary one; after patient gets adjusted to it.

GUM / PERIODONTAL PROBLEMS

Most common problems faced by individuals; as well as the most neglected ones.

Improper brushing & maintenance; causes plaque to accumulate & lead to various gum problems like; bad breath, taste, bleeding & swelling of gums, migration of teeth; causing spaces between teeth, mobility of teeth & sensitivity. The treatment varies with the severity of the problem.

In the initial stages; just cleaning of teeth till the gum line (scaling) is sufficient. Later on; root plaining / cleaning below the gum line is required. In more severe cases; a curettage / flap surgery / even bone grafting procedures may be required.
